Bumba Horrida - Brazilian Red Head
- Bumba Horrida
- Shipping Info
- Safety Disclaimer
Also known as the Red Head Tarantula, and in my opinion they are verry "different" looking tarantula. Whether that be good or bad is up to you. Sporting velvety black legs and abdomen with an almost iridescent red carapace with extreme contrast. These specimens make a completely unique addition to any ones collection.
Feeding
Crickets, Dubia, and Red Runners.
If the prey is too big then pre-kill and remove any left over food the following day.
Facts
Locale - Northern Brazil
Category - New World, Terrestrial
Size - Females reach around 5" while males are usually smaller. This species grows at a moderate rate.
Lifespan - Females 15+ years, Males 2-4
Care
Temperature - Kept like most other tarantulas at 75°-85°F
Humidity - 65%-75% is a standard range to support healthy living, a water bowl can be used but I do not use for smaller specimens.
Housing - Being a terrestrial species they thrive in a more horizontal enclosure roughly 3 times their legspan. This species tends to be burrowers so i use deeper substrate than most terrestrials.
